Clay plaster inspired by nature

Clay plasters

Inspired by nature

Breathable, moisture regulating walls

We know our clays, and when we refer to clay, we mean the pure unfired version; with all its beneficial properties breathing away.

Clayworks has been building with clay since 2002. We’ve learned the ‘ins and outs’ of this most versatile of natural building materials as any true practitioner has to: from the ground up. In the rain as well as the shine; sourcing and utilising clay sub soils at our client site from under our feet. Turning ‘mud’ into beautiful, thick clay walls and internal clay plasters. If you know and visit Cornwall, SW England, then you may well have seen one of our cob restoration and new build houses. Kestle Barton is one recent, and favourite example.

Building manually with clay is time and skills intensive. That’s why we made the decision to package all our hard-won experience into a format that can carry the benefits of clay all around the UK.

Claywork’s naturally beautiful, pigmented clay plasters come in an exciting range of pre-mixed, nature-inspired colours. The unique blend of minerals and pigments is designed to bring a piece of the natural environment into the home. We are proud to be the first UK manufacturer of ready-to-use, pigmented topcoat plasters for contemporary interior design. Our clay plasters provide a sustainable alternative to conventional plasters and paints.

Our goal is this. To design and create the most beautiful, healthy homes in the UK. That they have to be sustainable goes without saying. And clay based materials are sustainable. Clay is one of the most abundant raw materials available. It’s right under your feet. Right now. You just have to know how to convert it into a living space.

You’ll also realise that to have beauty, health and sustainability all in one go, something has to give. With every other materials group, mostly chemically altered, you simply cannot have all three. But with clay you can.

Welcome to Clayworks. We have a clay building tradition in the UK that we can be proud of. We aim to make clay work.
